It was in the mid 60's today here in Western Pa.
I saw my first honey bee today.
Its a first time in a few years I've seen a honey bee in the wild this early. And the first I've seen here abouts for some time. Probably due to the CCD (colony collapse disorder).
I hurriedly found some old honey to put out for her to feed on. She took her fill and flew away,to return later with a few of her friends. I watched her and her friends for a few hours, but was unable to discover the location of the nest (hive). There are no keepers nearby, so she must be from a tree or out building.
To late I thought to find my camera, so I have no pictures to document my story. I was to engrossed in the antics of her and her companions. I am Happy to report another feral hive has survived this winter. But this winter here has been mild so far. If they return I will feed again until the flowers bloom.
